Material selection for university buildings are based on aesthetics, low VOC’s, affordability and life cycle considerations. Ceramic facades and internal ceramic wall and floor coverings from Agrob Buchtal were chosen by architects Warren and Mahoney for the Latrobe University Sport Park in Bundoora, Victoria in order to achieve these goals.
In a university environment, materials need to be hard wearing. At Latrobe University Sports Park ceramic products were utilised on stairs, lift faces, corridors and amenities providing many functional and aesthetic advantages including cost effectiveness, durability, colour-fastness and stain resistance and assisted the project to achieve a 5 Star Green Star Design and As-Built ratings.
Agrob Buchtal’s KeraTwin non-combustible façade system offers a durable and economical alternative to other facade systems, providing quick and easy installation and a surface resistant to fading, scratching, impact and graffiti – a perfect choice for Latrobe University Sports Park.
With a large range of colours and styles available, Agrob Buchtal’s ceramic tiles and façade panels are manufactured with Hytect technology. Hytect provides an antibacterial effect and is easy to clean. For outdoor areas, Hytect coating of facade ceramics ensures a “self-washing” effect, which makes every rain shower become a free and environmentally sustainable cleaning process.
