When it comes to the latest developments in large-format tiles, Agrob Buchtal and Steuler’s product development teams have developed a range of extra large size tiles for floor and wall applications.
Ranges from Agrob Buchtal such as Toblin and Nova offer formats up to 1200x1200mm (1.2×1.2m) and many other series such as Driftwood, Savona, Oak, Streetlife, Unique, Valley & Timeless offer varying formats up to 1200x600mm.
German manufacturer, Steuler also offer a range of extra large sizes including a robust 6mm thick ceramic panel up to an enormous 2.6×1.2m format available in four attractive colour tones.
Why are large format tiles so popular these days? Designers often enjoy using large format tiles in situations where the same type of tile on the floor is used to cover surrounding walls and/or ceilings. This “European” minimalist style, sometimes referred to as a “monolithic envelope,” is becoming increasingly popular.
The use of large format tiles can also make average-sized rooms appear larger and bring proportionality to large commercial spaces.
Additionally, the use of large format tiles results in less grout lines overall. Narrow grout joints can create installation challenges. Ceramic Solutions is available to discuss joint size selections, including the pros and cons of different approaches.
